Continental
Europe
There was a time when people thought
the idea of good rock and roll coming from Europe was pretty funny. There's nothing for
those people to laugh about any more, because in the mid 80s Europe was smitten by guitar
band frenzy, and with a few pioneering bands to lead the way they took off on their own
rock and roll trip. Now there are good bands in nearly every country in Europe, and the
European fans often seem far more aware of what's going on than their more complacent
counterparts here in the States!
A
great place to start if you want a taste of what kind of music Europe can produce is the
NKVD CD
The Violence Inherent In The System
compilation,
a collection of 22 of the greatest European rock and roll bands of the late 80s that pulls
together some of the best single A sides and album tracks available in Europe at the time.
There's been tons more since then, so start digging!
